Dr. Mark William Mason
1952 - 2016
Dr. Mark William Mason, age 64, of 4656 Irisburg Road, Axton, passed away at his residence on Sunday, August 7, 2016. He was born on January 21, 1952 in Elmira, New York to the late Stewart Randall Mason and Ardelle Fridie Mason Porter.
After graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo Dental School, Mark moved to Martinsville and opened his dental practice. He enjoyed serving the Martinsville Community and especially his beloved patients for the past 39 years. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville. Mark enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the Southside Wood Turner’s Club for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Ingram Mason of the home, a daughter, Kim Mason Christophel and her husband Jesse of Connecticut; three sons, Brian Mason of Connecticut, and Michael and Matthew Mason of the home; his step-father, Edward Porter of Martinsville; two brothers, Randall Mason of New York and Gregg Mason and his wife, Joan of Danville, VA; and his in-laws, Wayne and Martha Ingram of Martinsville.
A Memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 12 noon with the Reverend Mark Hinchcliff officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorial donations may be made in Mark’s memory to the Martinsville Henry-County SPCA, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy., Martinsville, VA 24112.
