Talmadge Eugene Cofer Age 76, of Mobile AL, passed away at home on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. in Mobile AL. He was born on March 11, 1941 to William Austin "Bill" and Jean Helen Wilbourn Cofer in Chattanooga, TN. Talmadge is preceded in death by his parents and sister Sheila Ann Cofer Hunter.
Talmadge is survived by his wife, Jane Abbott Cofer, of Kingston, TN and their son, Marc Talmadge Cofer of Everett, WA, who is employed with Starbucks. He is also survived by one brother Bill Denziel Cofer of Versailles Ky. and Three sisters-in-law: Judy Abbott Wright (Donald), Joan Abbott Parish (Eddie) of Kingston, TN and Foniah Kay Abbott of Las Vagas, NV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Roane County High School, Kingston, TN in 1959. He worked with the Coca Cola Company in Rockwood, TN after he graduated. He married Jane Abbott in 1962. They then moved to Huntsville, AL. They relocated years later to Mobile, AL. He was employed with Teledyne in Mobile, AL until he retired.
He enjoyed treasure hunting with his metal detector. He found jewelry of all metals & old coins, etc. Always trying to determine if there was identifying markings on rings, etc. to return to the owner. He was successful with returning some items by locating the owner.
In his retirement years, there was a period where he enjoyed helping a friend with his hot dog stand.
He will be missed by all his family and numerous friends.
Arrangements under the direction of Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, Mobile, AL.
There will be no service and he will be cremated per his wishes.
