Aaron left this life behind on March 10, 2017. His life of devotion to his family and his faith made him a blessing in many lives. Born in N.C. and raised with seven siblings, he grew up in the farm country of eastern N.C. As a young man he joined the Navy and served on L.S.T. 283 at the WW2 battle of Normandy Beach. He graduated from Wake Forest College with a BS degree. Married in 1948 to Rosa Timberlake of Youngsville (deceased). Three children, Elizabeth Behrens of Riverview, FL, William Craven Bass of Riverview, FL, James C. Bass of Banner Elk, NC (deceased 2016). Aaron married again in 2000 to Norma "Jackie" Medlin of High Point, N C and two living sisters, Alpha Bass of Spring Lake NC, Mary Byrd of Raleigh, and a brother Leroyce Bass of Fayetteville NC.
Aaron was active in his Church and served many years as teacher and Deacon. His work life as a insurance underwriter for Nationwide and later Great American lead to his later teaching of classes to prepare agents for state testing. He loved sports, music and learning. He coached little league baseball for many years, was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church Choir and in later years served as leader of their senior choir. He touched many lives, encouraging all to lead a God driven life.
He will be greatly missed but as a part of our lives, his inspiration lives on.
The family will receive from 1-2 pm Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church 2100 Noble Rd. Raleigh, where a funeral service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh.
