Funeral services for Thomas R. Whitaker, 73, of 1114 E. Washington St., were set for 4 p.m. Wednesday (June 10, 1953) in Ramseur Baptist Church, the pastor the Rev. Lester Singleton officiating. Gene Roden & Sons had charge of interment in the cemetery at Hopewell. Mr. Whitaker, a produce company employe, had been ill some time before his death at home early Tuesday. He was born in Tupelo, Miss., May 7, 1880. He attended school at Glory & Atlas, TX. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Georgia Newsom, and these children; Elmer Whitaker and J. E. Whitaker, Paris; Edward Whitaker, Hughson, Calif. and Mrs. Flora Lee Kenjorski, Nanticoke, Pa.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Whitaker, Tushka, Okla., and Felix Whitaker, Weslaco, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Garrison, Porterville, Calif., and these stepchildren: W. S. Benningfield and S. E. Benningfield and Mrs. Lee Todd, Paris, Texas, and Mrs. Ella Manuel, Wichita Falls.
