Michael Wasson, 55, passed away on March 3, 2017, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was born on Sept. 10, 1961, in Kansas City, Mo., but moved to Colorado shortly thereafter. He spent time in Iowa, North Carolina and Texas, before eventually returning to Pueblo, where he made his home for most of his adult life. Michael worked for the majority of his professional life in health care, most recently as an RN at Parkview Medical Center. He was a natural caregiver and was dedicated to his patients. He loved his coworkers, many of whom became lifelong friends. Michael loved animals and always had a house full of pets. He opened his home to countless stray animals over the years. He was a skilled horseman and had a special touch with all animals. Michael was an accomplished cook and enjoyed feeding family and friends. He loved to travel, go camping and to spend time with loved ones. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tony and Mona Giadone. Michael was lucky to have found his spouse and soulmate of almost 20 years, Bob Hudson. Michael also is survived by his mother, Ida Giadone; sister, Jenna Price (Joe); and niece, Audrey; sister-in-law, Melissa Stone (Shane); nieces, Emily and Taylee; and nephew, Guy; brother-in-law, Tra Hudson (Carol); niece, Lauren; and nephew, Matthew; uncle, Ron Giadone (Leslie); and cousins, Dante and Damian; and many beloved extended family members and countless friends. Michael fought cancer with the same grace and determination with which he lived his life, and we are grateful to his many medical care providers. We will be honoring Michael in a memorial service at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at Romero Family Funeral Home, 110 Cleveland St., Pueblo, CO 81004. Reception immediately following the service at Romero Courtesy Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1207 Pueblo Boulevard Way, Pueblo, CO 81005.
