Obituary 1916, Tuesday May 30 - The Carleton Place Herald, front page:
"Mrs. Raney McNeely - On Saturday afternoon Mrs. McNeely, wife of Mr. Raney McNeely, 10th Concession Beckwith, passed away very suddenly whilst sitting in her chair, at the ripe old age of 83 years and 3 months. The deceased lady had no specific ailments, the physical machinery having seemly just worn out. Mrs. McNeely was before marriage Catherine Robertson, daughter of the late Peter Robertson, another of the pioneer settlers. In 1861 (wrong info, married September 24, 1858) she married Mr. McNeely, and for over half a century they lived together, their family consisting of seven children, five of whom survive - three daughters, Mrs. Robert McLinton, Mrs. Elisha Morris and Mrs. R. Sample and two sons, D.R. and W. J. McNeely. Mrs. McNeely was a member of St. James Church, and the service at the home yesterday afternoon was conducted by Rev. Canon Elliott, interment being made in Pine Grove Cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. Robt. Sample, Elisha Morris, James Rattray, William J. McNeely, Millar McNeely and Robert McLinton."
