Danny Joe McCoy, 70, of Middletown, passed away at 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home in Middletown.

Mr. McCoy was born January 18, 1947, in New Castle, Wyoming, a son of William Walter and Anna Marie (Devilleneuve) McCoy.

Danny served his country in the United States Navy entering on April 14, 1965 and being honorably discharged on November 25, 1970. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.

On June 14, 2014 in Bowling Green, Missouri he married Sarah Jane Tarrants. She survives at the home.

Danny had lived at his present address since 2012. Prior to moving to this area, he lived in the State of Arkansas.

He had worked at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville as the head of maintenance. Danny had also worked at the Montgomery City apartments. He had been a truck driver, being an owner and operator. Danny also worked construction.

Danny enjoyed camping at Mark Twain Lake.

He was a member of the Cowboy Church in Bowling Green, Missouri.

Danny is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane McCoy, of the home in Middletown; sister, Genevieuve Joyce “Jenny” Gully, of New Castle, Wyoming; step-son, Michael Aron Penn, serving in the U.S. Army in Fort Hood, Texas and his wife, Leeanna, of Joplin; step-grandchildren, Chase Alexander Penn, Sierra Rose Penn and Gemma Marie Penn, of Joplin; mother-in-law, Wonda McCoy, of Middletown; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Laura Jean Blackard, of Jonesburg, Thomas Edgar Eoff and wife, Robin, of Middletown and Nancy Lynn Eoff, of the State of Arkansas; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Jacob McCoy, Walter William McCoy, Robert Henry “Bob” McCoy, William Morris “Billy” McCoy and John Amos McCoy and sisters, Harriet Minnie Hanson, Betty Jane Smith and Hallie Anna Sieger.

At Danny’s request, he was cremated and there will be no services.
