Mary Harkness, passed away at home on February 11, 2017. Ralph followed closely behind departing this world to join Mary on February 15, 2017.

Mary was born August 1, 1923, in Eureka, CA, the daughter of Carolyn and Walter Scott. She grew up in Eureka, attending Humboldt State and later, UC Berkeley. During WWII, Mary worked as a draftsman for Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego and later for the California Division of Highways.

Mary worked as a Delineator for the Division of Oil & Gas in Sacramento and for the US Forestry Service and the Unemployment office in Redding. In 1979, Ralph retired and they moved to Shingletown for 10 years before returning to the Redding area.

Mary was active with the local Newcomer's Club and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed gardening & was an expert seamstress. Mary and Ralph enjoyed traveling after retirement.

Ralph and Mary leave behind sons, Gregg (wife Marilyn) and Richard; daughter, Caroline; grandson, Grant Harkness (wife Raphaela); granddaughter, Valerie Harkness; grandson, James Harkness (wife Gina) and great-grandson Jaxon; and Mary's brother, Eugene Calman.
