Rebecca Kay Byrd was born to Roy Neal Byrd II and Katie Black Byrd on October 1st 1950.

She was the first and only daughter in a family of four brothers.

They family traveled much during her childhood but she graduated high school from Borger High School in Borger, Texas.

Becky was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation.

She was an intelligent and witty lady, with a quick laugh and deep dimples. She was handy and capable.

She was an extraordinary engineer. Well respected by her peers and coworkers, which for a woman during this particular time, was especially difficult.

In Denver, she was a union electrician.

She enjoyed outdoor activities such as skiing and hiking.

She loved dogs, training and showing them until her health prevented her from doing so. Her minipoodle, Bartie, was a great comfort.

Becky was crafty.

She had a delicate hand. She created beautiful stockings for her three grandchildren for Christmas. Each one having both cross stitched detail and quilted detail, each with their name.

Becky loved her son, Scott, dearly and completely, and he, her.

They were as different as they were alike, and each had very different lives.

They seldom lived in the same town and often had long period where they could not speak because of his active military service and deployment, though they did speak on the phone when they could.

Becky lived in several states in her life, from Texas to Indiana, trying to find her place in this world.

There was always a loneliness about her, a sadness that couldn't be defined, and couldn't be helped. A restlessness.

We learned in 1998 that she had given up a son for adoption whom she often thought about. She referred to him as 'David', wistfully wondering about him, wanting to locate him, cursing the sealed records and the walls she ran into when she tried.

During the last several years of Becky's life, she suffered with an illness which caused her to suffer great deterioration.

Becky passed of natural causes at her home on March 9, 2017 in Tulia, Texas.

She is survived by her son, Scott D Pavillard (Jessica) and three grandchildren. Kyllion, Collin (Jackie) and Krystin (Kris) of which many are currently stationed outside of the continental United States.

One great grandson, Ayden.

Two brothers, Roy Neal Byrd III (Jackie) and Jeffery Lynn Byrd (Kristie).

Great Aunt Chloe Ann Black.

Several nieces and nephews.

As we remember her, we will remember the lady she really was.

The girl with the high cheekbones with the beautiful smile with all the dark curls in glasses, hugging her son, putting bunny ears on him with her fingers.

Special Note: Come to find out, Becky's first baby, 'David' had been curious about her and had added himself to a familial DNA site which matched his brother's.

He was saddened to hear that she had passed before they could meet but I am certain her heart was smiling as it was shared with him that she had thought of him often, loved him very much, and wanted to locate him.

The family he was adopted into loved him very much. They were stable, wonderful parents who provided all of the things she had wished for him. He thrived there.

Like his mother and brother, 'David' was math-centric! He grew into an engineer, a veteran, and a father.

So Becky is survived by her FIRST BORN son, 'David', and David's children.

NOTE:
Becky has a marker in Dreamland Cemetery but she WAS CREMATED. She IS NOT BURIED.

This was her LAST WISH- NOT to be buried.
It creeped her out.
