Elizabeth Hewitt Benton, 95 of Socastee died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Grand Strand Healthcare.
Born in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late Solomon J. and Zelia Benton Hewitt. Mrs. Benton had retired from the Horry County School Systems and was a member of Socastee Baptist Church. Her husbands, Thomas L. McDowell and James. T. Benton, son, Ronald L. McDowell, sisters, Letha Lee and Lottie Hearl and brothers, Grant, Ray, Thomas and Alfred Hewitt all preceded her in death.
Surviving are daughters, Margie M. Wilson of Myrtle Beach and Elaine Benton Adams of Loris; grandchildren, Dr. Ronald Wilson (Robin) of Greenville, SC, VeeLynn Bain (Earle) of Libertyville, IL, Craig Hutchinson of Nichols, SC and Melissa Vlasaty (Bob) of Aynor, SC; great grandchildren, Kati and Hali Hutchinson, Zane Duncan, Ariadne and William Bain and Carolina Wilson; sister, Madelyn Cole of Florence and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, Socastee Baptist Church. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services at the church.
Interment will follow in Withers Swash Cemetery.
