William "Bill" M. Mullins, 97, formerly of LaHarpe Kansas, died Dec. 21, 2006, at Garden Valley Nursing Home in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mullins was born Sept. 21, 1909, on a farm northeast of Coffeyville, Kansas, to William Henry and Alice Leta (Kimbrell) Mullins.
He grew up in the Neosho Falls, KS area.
In 1931 he was married to Alberta Keele at Garnett, Kansas.
He later married Alice M. (Wiederstein) Sommerfeld. They made their home in Neodesha, Toronto, Carlyle, LaHarpe, and Guest Home Estates V before moving to Garden Valley Nursing Home in May 2006.
He and his wife ran overnight mail routes from Neodesha, KS to Fort Scott, KS before he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; a stepson, Dennis Sommerfeld and wife Alice; and a stepdaughter, Sandra and husband Allen Wilson, all of Kansas City, MO; a sister, Goldie and husband Everett Wiles, of Iola, KS; four grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Mullins; and three sisters, Jennie Whitney, Frances Earl, and Josie Wolford.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2007, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapels, with burial at Cedarvale Cemetery in Neosho Falls, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made to NorthCare Hospice and left at the funeral home.
