His funeral will be 4:00 PM Tuesday afternoon, March 14, 2017, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, March 15, 2017, in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the hour of service on Tuesday.
Mr. Spencer was born November 4, 1934, in Greenwood, SC, a son of Rans Spencer, Jr., and Hattie Keenan Spencer. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and received his bachelors degree from Clemson University where he was also a member of the Corps of Cadets. Mr. Spencer was a member of the St. Stephen Christian Church, and he was a Mason and a Shriner. He also formerly served on the St. Stephen Town Council. Mr. Spencer was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed working in his yard and cutting grass, but he especially enjoyed playing tennis. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Lynn Cook, and a sister, Jennie Moore. Mr. Spencer was the widower of Jule Ann Wyndham Spencer.
Surviving are, his fiance', Barbara Harris Schipmann of St. Stephen; a grandson, Justin Cook of St. Stephen; a step daughter, Angela Dorman and her husband, David, of Moses Lake, WA; a great granddaughter, Karleigh Cook; and two step grandchildren, Sarah and James Dorman.
