Paulette Peters Garrett, age 67 of Bemis, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home in Bemis.

She was born on October 6, 1949 in Bolivar, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Arthur M. Peters and Earline Moore.

Paulette retired after 27 years as a teaching assistant in the Special Education Department of Jackson Central-Merry High School in Jackson.

She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church Bemis. Paulette was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was also a mother to anyone who needed her. Paulette was a loving lady who always saw the good in others. She exemplified the true Proverbs 31 woman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lowell Peters.

She is survived by her husband, Freddie L. Garrett, Jr. of Jackson; her children, Michele Walker (Brian) of Jackson, Clagett Talley (Jana) of Savannah, Freddie Lee Garrett, III (Anna May) of Medina, and Lela Canter (John) of Germantown, TN; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Rowell, Sarah Rowell, Jason Walker, Tray Talley, Savanna Garrett, Abram Garrett, and Bobby Canter.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2017 from 3-7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Bemis.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church Bemis with Dr. Bill Simms and Bro. John Norvell officiating.

Burial will follow in the Shandy Cemetery in Hardeman County, TN.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Paulette’s memory be directed to First Baptist Church of Bemis.
