Herman J. Reed
Herman J. Reed, 84, Palmyra, died Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.
Born May 21, 1932, in Central, he was the son of the late Herman Reed and Gertrude Bean Reed Tingle.
He was an Army paratrooper in the Korean conflict and a retired machine operator for the Sonoco plant, where he worked for 39 years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Gettelfinger; six siblings, Lawrence, Lewis, Earl, Howard and Jimmie Reed and Mary Carver; and a great-grandchild, Tinsley Bailey.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Wilihminna Sear; four children, Alan Reed (Donnetta), Connie Reed (Kathy), Kevin Reed (Cathy) and Stephen Reed (Laurie); a son-in-law, Brian Gettelfinger; five grandchildren, Devan Jackson (Michael), Kristen Bailey (Alexander), Krieg Reed, Jackson Reed (Ashley) and Nicholas Reed; and four great-grandchildren, Cohen Jackson, Preston Bailey, Warren Bailey and Isabella Reed.
Visitation: Tuesday, March 7, 2017, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra and Wednesday, March 8, after 9 a.m. at Palmyra United Methodist Church.
Funeral: Wednesday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at the church with burial in Palmyra Cemetery.
