St. John's Lutheran Church, Golden Lake, Ont., was the scene of a wedding on Friday afternoon at three o'clock when Miss Elsa Alma Karau, of Tillsonburg, Ont., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Karau. of Pembroke, became the bride of Mr. Herbert R. Monck, of London. Ont., son of Mrs. A. Monck. of Belmont, Ont. Rev. C. Lantz officiated. and the wedding music was played by Mr Arnold Wolff, of Pembroke, with the bridegroom's brother, Mr. Kenneth Monck, of Tillsonburg, as soloist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Miss Hilda Karau, of Ottawa, as bridesmaid. Mr. Alfred Lynch, Jr., of Detroit, Mich; nephew of the bridegroom, was best man.
For her wedding the bride wore a floor-length gown of white organza, with a long veil arranged from a pleated tulle bonnet, shaped bandeau, trimmed with tiny velvet flowers. She carried an arm bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums, and wore a strand of pearls with matching earrings. the gift of the bridegroom's mother.
A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, and later Mr. and Mrs. Monck left :on a motor trip. Upon their return they will take up residence in Belmont.
Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Monck, of Tillsonburg, Ont; Mrs. Norman Taylor. Mrs. Annie Bates, of Belmont, Ont; Mr. Alfred Lynch, Jr., of Detroit; Miss Hilda Karau, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Wair, of Ottawa; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kumm and Marlene, of Deux Rivieres, Ont; Mr. Edward Karau. Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Schutt, of Pembroke, Ont.

Elsa Monck - Passed away peacefully with family at her side, on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at McCormick Home, London, in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late Herb Monck. Loving mother of Herb Jr. (Jenny), Bill (Bev), Alex (Judy), John (Lynda), Berndena (Don), Christine (Bill), Pauline (Rob) and Lawrence. Sister-in-law of Berndena Karau (late Edwin). Cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and their families. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her 9 siblings. A special thank you to McCormick Home for their loving care and support to Elsa. Friends will be received at A. MILLARD GEORGE FUNERAL HOME , 60 Ridout Street South, London, on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 7-9pm, and on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10-11am, where the funeral service will be held at 11am. Interment to follow at Dorchester Union Cemetery. Donations in Elsa's memory would be appreciated to McCormick Care Foundation.
