Arthur James Banks, 88, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2017, at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care in Lexington, SC. He was a man of integrity, quiet strength and wit, and had a servant's heart and warm smile that impacted all who knew him.

He was a son of the late David Houser Banks and the late Kathryn Donaldson Woodside Banks. Arthur grew up in St. Matthews, SC, where he attended public schools through high school, graduating valedictorian of his class in 1946. He graduated from Clemson College in 1950 with honors in electrical engineering. He attended Cornell University and later received his masters degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He accepted a job at RCA in Camden, NJ in 1951 where he worked until an early retirement in 1987. During his career, he received numerous patents for his television broadcasting equipment circuit designs.

Arthur took on many leadership and service roles in school and church. He served in numerous president positions including class president: two years in high school and also two years in college. He was president of the YMCA Council, Key Club, Tiger Brotherhood, and SC Student Christian Association. He achieved the rank of Eagle through the Boy Scouts and later became a scout master. At Haddonfield United Methodist Church in NJ, he served as church lay leader and was an active participant in financial and missions ministries. His greatest act of service was as primary caregiver for his wife for nearly 30 years following a critical auto accident. Arthur married Nancy Jane Allen of Haddonfield, NJ on November 15, 1952. They settled in Cherry Hill, NJ and together raised four daughters. In 2007, Arthur and Nancy moved to Lexington, SC to be closer to family.
