That Star-Spangled Banner yet waves. Donald and his family lived down the street from us. He was 8 years older than I. I remember when news of his sacrifice spread quickly throughout the neighborhood. Shortly thereafter, his family erected a tall flagpole in their yard, and began flying an impressive American Flag in his honor and memory. Four Decades later, "She" still flies proudly; your sacrifice is not forgotten Donald. Your neighbor, Mike.

He was the son of Mr Lacy Lee Wall and Mrs Annie Winstead Wall, 1003 Vandora Avenue, Garner, NC.

He served with the Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, "Geronimo", 101st Airborne Division, "Screaming Eagles", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
