Jay was born to Giovanni and Caterina (Porcille) Del Bono in Orco Feglino, a comune (municipality) in the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria, located about 50 km southwest of Genoa and about 30 km southwest of Savona in the upper valley of the Aquila stream. Jay came to the United States in 1911 at the age of 8 along with her parents and three siblings; Benedetta Marie, (a name unknown sister), and Nicholas David.

As a young woman she married Amadeo Ardemagni and together they had three children; Catherine Frances, Virginia Lee and Amadeo(John)Jr.

Jay and her husband lived and worked on the old Rosconi Ranch which was later sold to other entities. Jay retired after over 40 years as a cook on that ranch. She was also very active in the Sons of Italy and the Italian Catholic Federation.

She was preceeded in death by her husband and one sister (name unknown). She was survived by her sister Detta (Pietri), brother David Del Bono, children Frances (Laubhan), Virginia (Poston),Johnnie Ardemagni, two grand daughters Laura Poston and Shawnna (Ardemagni)_Supnet and one great grand daughter Venus Supnet.
