Stephen Edward Emerson Jr. of Smithville died Friday, March 10, 2017. He was born March 2, 1928 at Wheelersburg, Ohio to Stephen Edward Emerson Sr. and Maude Johnson Emerson. He was retired; a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII; a 3rd Degree Master Mason and a member of Curia Lodge at Cave City. He was a member of Ring's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amy Cline; five brothers; one sister; a grandson, Scott Reynolds and infant grandchildren, Noah Emerson and McKenzie Emerson.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Geneva King Emerson; sons, Stephen Emerson III of Harrison and Jonathan Emerson of Lincoln; daughters, Laura Divin of Lincoln, Katherine Jackson of Milton, Delaware, Eva Shipley of Russellville and Sarah Stein of Pendleton, Indiana; brother, Bill Emerson of Troy, Alabama; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ring's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Stephen Emerson III and Bro. Terry Johnson officiating. Burial; will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery at Poughkeepsie with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
