Obituary ~ Iola Register ~ Iola, KS ~ October 2, 2006

Wilma Alberta Vermillion, 59, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, in Kansas City, KS. She had lived near Lone Elm, KS, for most of her life.
She was born Aug. 26, 1947, in Ottawa, KS, the daughter of Wallace and Elizabeth Drury-Shaw. As a child she was a member of Seekers Not Slackers 4-H Club and Welda United Methodist Church.
She was graduated from Kincaid (KS) High School in 1965.
On June 5, 1970, she was married to Robert Vermillion in Welda, KS. They were married for 35 years.
She had worked at Gates Corporation in Iola, KS, as a material handler since February 1976. She was recently honored for 30 years of service.
She had volunteered for many years as a horse leader and assisted with the horse show at the Kincaid Free Fair.
She liked to crochet and quilt.
She is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Shaw, Welda, KS; two daughters, Tina Dudley, Shelby, MT, and Tamera Ostrander and her husband, Jeremy, Glenwood, IA; a son, Travis, Kincaid, KS; a stepdaughter, Teena Lutz and her husband, Gerald, Garnett, KS; two sisters, Melvina Jones and her husband, Charlie, Potwin, KS; and Shirley Shaw, Welda, KS; ten grandchildren, Tyisha and Shanae Fonder and Chase Dudley, Shelby, MT, Reiny, Colby, Bailey and Kord Ostrander, Glenwood, IA, Codi Vermillion, Kincaid, KS, and Hadley and Cassidy Lutz, Garnett, KS; a nephew, Craig Jones, Papillion, NE; and a cousin, LaJune Bodenhamer and her husband, Glen, Garnett, KS.
Her father died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Moran, KS. The Rev. Steve Bubna will officiate. Interment will be in Lone Elm Cemetery, Lone Elm, KS.
She will lie in state at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials to Wilma Vermillion Memorial Fund, with a beneficiary to be named later, may be left at the funeral home.
