On March 6, 2017, at 6:00 a.m., our dad left this mortal existence to return to his Heavenly Father and his sweetheart, Marlene.

Dan was born January 30, 1930 to Earl Charles Hardy and Anna Agusta Kroll Hardy. He grew up on the Avenues, living the adventurous life of a kid in the '30s. He graduated from West High and attended the University of Utah (Sigma Pi Fraternity). Dan served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict (1954-1956) on the USS Bryce Canyon.

Upon his return, he drove tour buses and washed walls at Continental bank to earn money to attend the U. He met his sweetheart at the City and County Building in the County Recorder's office, they were married on April 18, 1958. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 14, 1966.

Dan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including YM Presidency, Bishop, High Councilor, Stake Mission Leader, Single Adult Leader, Home Teacher, and friend to all.

Dan had a great sense of humor, he enjoyed meeting and talking with everyone. He loved his children and grandchildren and loved to spend time with them…sharing a meal, learning to shoot a gun, water skiing, playing sports, working together, and serving others. Dan always had a friendly hello and a smile.

Dan is proceeded in death by his wife, Marlene; parents; brothers, Earl, Auer, and Dawn; sisters, Lois, Helen, and Norma; and son-in-law, Duane Knowlden. Survived by his daughters, Suzanne (John) Selleneit and Danene Knowlden; son, Steven (Deana) Hardy; seven granddaughters; and four great-grandsons. His family is the joy of his life!

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Waterloo Ward Chapel, 1623 South 500 East with a viewing prior to the services from 10:00-10:45 a.m. A viewing will also be held at the church on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
