Arthur H. Spencer Dead

It is our sad duty to record the death of Arthur H. Spencer, brother of Mrs. Samuel Govela [sic], which occurred at Mrs. Govela's home on Saturday , Nov. 18. Mr. Spencer had been under the care of physicians in Ord for some time. These doctors pronounced his case hopeless, and he came to Omaha three weeks ago for more skilled treatment. His Omaha physician pronounced the case diabetes. Mr. Spencer improved somewhat during his first two weeks here and felt so much encouraged that he sent home cheering letters to his wife and four month old baby. A very short time before his death he contracted a severe cold which developed into pneumonia. His weakened system was unable to withstand this severe trial, and on Friday evening friends were called in to help care for him. They remained with him until he passed away on Saturday evening about 5 o'clock before his wife could reach him. He received the kindest care and attention from Mr. and Mrs. Govela, but still his death was particularly sad in that he was far from his wife and child, and also that his mother had passed to the Great Beyond just about two months ago. His brother arrived in Omaha from Kansas on Sunday morning, and early Monday morning left with the body for Ord, where interment will be made. To his bereaved wife and family we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
