Deanna Dee Sherman, 79, passed away peacefully at her home near Dexter, Minnesota, on March 4, 2017.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1938, to Lawrence and Ruth (Eblen) Edwards in Austin, Minnesota. She was raised near Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1956. Deanna was united in marriage to William G. “Bill” Sherman on April 19, 1958, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Deanna was an avid bird watcher, gardener, and shared a love for animals – especially her miniature pinscher, Charlie. She was an exceptional cook and baker. Throughout the years, she shared her talent of cooking while working at the Windmill Restaurant near Dexter and the Grand Meadow Nursing Home. On routine visits to Mayo Clinic’s hematology division, Deanna always welcomed the staff and doctors with a double batch of peanut butter cookies.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Sherman of rural Dexter; five children, Jeffrey (Vanette) Sherman of Jim Falls, Wisconsin, James (Janice) Sherman of Oologah, Oklahoma, Mary Sherman-Ahrens of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Robert (Ruth) Sherman of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota and Matthew (Holly) Sherman of Sargeant, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, David Edwards of California, Garry (Connie) Edwards of Houston, Minnesota, Garth (Shelly) Edwards of Houston, Minnesota and Garret Edwards; sisters, Kathy Eason of California and Jennifer Edwards Hess; sister-in-law, Beth Edwards, all of Dayton, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Robert (Bob) Edwards and Grant Edwards; sister, Barbara Logan; and son-in-law Dean Ahrens.
