Clark was a Legendary West Virginia OLD-TIME fiddle player.He started out at age five on the banjo and fiddle. Clark"s grandfather and great-uncle were both Old Time fiddlers. Some of his influences around Charleston were Ed Haley, Bob and Abe Glenn,and George Dillon. After serving in the Navy during WWI he began playing with his cousin Luke(Luches) Kessinger who accompanied him on guitar. In February of 1928 they began recording for the BRUNSWICK label as The Kessinger Brothers. They performed on the Charleston radio WOBU now WCHS. Clark had also appeared on The Grand Ole Opry,where he gave two encores due to the audience. In April of 1971 at the 47th annual Old-Time Fiddlers & Bluegrass Festival in Union,N.C. he won first place and title of "World Champion Fiddler." His song"s can be heard on the web-site Smithsonian Folkways. A few of the songs he recorded were West Virginia Special, Rose of My Heart Waltz, Liza Jane, and Leather Britches to name a few.
