Henry Valentine Clodfelter was the sixth of nine (or seventh of ten?) children of David Clodfelter (1809-1895) and his second wife Nancy Myers Clodfelter (1810-1897), who married 24 Nov 1834 at Davidson County, North Carolina. David had an additional two (or one?) child by his first wife, name unknown.

Henry, a life-long farmer of Northern Davidson County, North Carolina, married Crissie Jane Stone (1854-1915) on 14 Jan 1875 at Davidson County, North Carolina. Henry and Crissie were the parents of eight known children, namely:

1. Edward Frank Clodfelter (1875-1952)
2. Charles Jacob Clodfelter (1877-1955)
3. Mary Jane Clodfelter Motsinger Craven (1879-1973)
4. Walter Clodfelter (1882-p1900)
5. John william Clodfelter (1885-1959)
