David A. Van Sickle, Jr., age 87, of Point Marion died September 15, 2013 in his home.

Mr. Van Sickle was born January 2, 1926 in Greensboro, the son of the late David and Mary Ann Martin VanSickle, Sr.

David attended Mapletown High School.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, and served on a minesweeper for thirty months. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

After his Naval Service, in World War II, David worked for 37 years for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at Lock 8, Point Marion.

Mr. Van Sickle was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, The Hutchison Sportsman Club, and a past President of the Point Marion Lions Club.

David's wife Betty Birch Van Sickle died February 22, 2012.

Also deceased are three brothers, James, Charles, and Raleigh Van Sickle, and two sisters, Leona "Toot" Rafferty Bezock and Lena Glisan.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and will be missed by his Saturday night friends.

Friends will be received in the Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, Pa. 15320, Paul M. Lesako, Funeral Director/Supervisor, on Friday September 20, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Scott Teets, officiating.

Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Greene Co. Memorial Park Mausoleum, Waynesburg.
