Theresa R. Hayes, 75, of Palmer Twp., Pa., formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed away on September 24, 2014 at Moravian Village, Bethlehem, Pa. Born: Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 4, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Daniel M. Rood and Catherine Kinal Rood. Her husband of 57 years, William Hayes, passed away July 24, 2014.
Personal: Theresa was the Principal for 10 years at Our Lady Star of the Sea School in Huguenot, NY, also she was the Principal at Our Lady of Help of Christians in Tottenville, NY. She also was an 8th grade teacher at Academy of St. Dorothy in Old Town, NY. She graduated from Rhodes High School in 1956, received her BS in Psychology at Brooklyn College, Masters in Elementary Education at College of Staten Island and her 2nd Masters in Education Administration at Fordham University. Theresa was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church in Palmer Twp., Pa. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Survivors: Surviving are her children William J. Hayes, who is a NYCTA Bus Driver out of the Charleston Depot, and his wife Dawn of Kutztown, Pa.; and Theresa M. Befumo and her husband Joseph of Edison, NJ. Grandsons are William, Daniel and Nicholas Hayes. Sisters and brother are Charlotte Wiecinski, Margaret Craig, Jane Spille, Geraldine Towey and Patrick Rood. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters Diana, Gerard and Lawrence Rood, and Marylin McGrisken.
