Louise May (Duffy) Sullivan passed away at The Catholic Memorial Home of Fall River, on Tuesday, March 7, 201, at the age of 94.

Louise was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, on May 24, 1922. She graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School of Fall River in 1940 and went on to live in the area for many years. Louise worked for a time as a medical transcriptionist and then became a homemaker and devoted mother of four. She raised her family in Somerset, later moved to Sturbridge, and then eventually resided in Westport.

Louise is predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Edward T. Sullivan, her daughter Gail A. Sullivan, her son, James E. Sullivan, and three siblings, John Duffy, Genevieve Guilfoy, and Paul Duffy.

Louise is survived by her son, Jeffery T. Sullivan of Northampton, and her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Stephen McGuiness, with whom she lived in Westport.

Louise is lovingly remembered by her two grandsons, Matthew McGuiness and his wife Michelle and Timothy McGuiness and his wife Lauren, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Connor.

Louise loved her family and enjoyed caring for her youngest son, Jim. She was devoted to those afflicted with Down Syndrome and, as such, was a supporter of causes such as the Special Olympics. A loving nana with an adventurous spirit, she took great pleasure in spending time with her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She loved the ocean and spent many summer days with her family at Baker’s Beach, in Westport. Over the past three years, Louise attended the Westport Senior Center where she interacted with many friends and was lovingly cared for by the staff of the Senior Social Day Program.

Her funeral will be held from the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River, with a mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Main Rd., Westport. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River MA.
