Virgil was born on July 13, 1940, in Muskogee, Oklahoma the son of James Irwin and Ana Mae (Seabolt) Lewis. He graduated from high school and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked in civil service. He married Bonnie Lewis in McAlester on September 9. She preceded him in death on September 22, 2015. Virgil liked spending time with his animals including his chickens, dogs and horses. He enjoyed remodeling his home and doing carpentry.
Survivors include: Daughter Connie Prock and children Michelle Prock Morgan, Chris, and Dustin Prock. Daughter Christy Lewis and son. His sisters, Dean Lewis Lutz, Patty (Clayton) McDowell, and Lois Looney; a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Loretta (Jesse) Lawson. He is also survived by step-sons, Joseph Hargraves of McAlester, Richard Clayton of Enid and Jason Hargraves of Tucson, Arizona; his step daughters, Robin Tubby, of the home and Rhonda Yocham of Buckeye, Arizona;
