Harold Clay “Buck” Palmer, Sr., 79, was called home on Wednesday March 8, 2017 at Annie Penn Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Hester and Rev. Angie Toth officiating. The burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with Military Graveside Honors.

Buck was a native of Rockingham County and was the son of the late Tommie and Ila Smith Palmer. He was an airman in the US Air Force and retired from Fieldcrest Mills as a truck driver with over 25 years of service. He was a longtime member of Community Baptist Church and loved life to the fullest. A grand story teller, Buck filled every room with adventure and wonder. The truck driving stories were endless and came to life in his CB Handle “Dynomite”. He adored children and was an avid sportsman including fishing, bird hunting and boating. Along with his parents, he also was preceded in death by his son, Harold C. “Hal” Palmer, Jr. and his sister, Tommie Sue Gunn.

Buck is survived by his wife, Barbara Strader Palmer of the home; his daughter, Samantha Palmer Fettig and husband, David of Reidsville; grandchildren, Timmy Belton, Kelly Belton, Chris Fettig and Katie Manspile; great granddaughters, Savannah and Hayden Belton, Alice Fettig and Ella Johnson; cousins, nieces and nephews.
