Marian Horton Helms, 73, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 7, 1943, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James and Janie Scruggs Horton.

Mrs. Helms was employed with The Salvation Army where she served as a caseworker and leader of the Sunbeams for over 40 years. She was also a Sunday School teacher and very active in all church activities. She was very devoted to her God and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Helms, Sr.; children, Sabrina Grant, Joshua Helms, and Joseph Helms (Adrian), all of Spartanburg, SC; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Frady, Joan Henderson, and Jerri Webber; brother, Truman Horton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Frank Helms, Jr.; infant daughter, Kimberly Jane Helms; and five brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, March 13, 2017, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, by Major Grady Pearson and Captain Donald Marvel. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
