Wally attended Madison West High School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed with Oscar Mayer as a meat cutter until his retirement and also belonged to the Local No. 538 Meat Cutters Union. Wally was an avid fan of the Packers and Badgers and enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing and playing softball.
He is survived by his stepsons, Dean and Gary Kreger; seven grandchildren, Jon (Trina) Kreger, Alisha (Glen) Neeley, Angela (Roger) Kleist, Valerie Kreger, Vicki Kreger, Brandon (Randee) Kreger Workman and Erin Kreger Workman; 10 great-grandchildren; and his guardian, Mary (Ken) Pronschinske and their children, Kaitlin Pronschinske and Matthew Pronschinske.
In addition to his wife, Betty, he was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Luella Kreger McGee; special friend, Marion Larsen Guethlein; sisters, Ann Hawkinson and Evelyn "Sis" Erickson; and brother, Lem Moore.
Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m., on Saturday, March 11, 2017, with Father Joji Reddy Allam presiding. A luncheon will follow the service at the funeral home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service on Saturday.
