Jeffery Phillips passed away on Feb 22, 2017. He was born in Lawton, Ok on Aug 21, 1962, to Paul and Kathryn Phillips. He was the first of four children.

Jeff graduated in the first graduating class at Grant High and held several occupations before becoming an entrepreneur. It was his dream to cultivate a place where everyone could share ideas and experiences, and that dream eventually became a reality.

Jeff played a major role in revitalizing downtown Alexandria. In particular, he owned and operated the beloved coffeehouse, Tamp & Grind. Through this establishment, Jeff provided a welcoming haven for all. Ultimately, Jeff loved people and would go out of his way to make them happy. He was a humble man, never looking for accolades and always helping anonymously behind the scenes.
Jeff loved the outdoors, cycling, music, and heavy guitar. He was friendly, protective, giving, insightful, and had a unique sense of humor. He could make any stranger feel at ease; he was truly a beautiful soul.

He is survived by his wife Amanda Phillips; daughter Kaci Nugent (Michael); father Paul Phillips; two brothers: Darrin Phillips (Sherry), and Bruce Phillips (Karen); sister Cynthia Phillips Thorne (Shelly); grandson Alexander Nugent; niece Alayna; and nephews: Andrew, Colton, Connor, Dylan, Kevin, Matthew, and Oren.

He is also survived by his former wife Karen Jameson and her husband, Marvin; and many friends both personal and professional.

He is preceded in death by his mother Kathryn Phillips.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at Tamp & Grind on March 11, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
