Mrs. Beverly Clarice (Moore) Crowell, 82, of Oswego, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. She was born January 13, 1935, in Belle Plaine, Kansas, to Emory and Margery (Smallwood) Moore. As a young girl, her parents moved to Longton, Kansas, where she graduated high school in 1952.
After high school, Mrs. Crowell worked as a telephone operator until her marriage to Mr. Robert Crowell on April 11, 1955. Together they raised five children and co-owned five newspapers, The Chetopa Advance, The Edna Sun, The Mound Valley Times, The Altamont Journal, and Oswego-Independent Observer. Mrs. Crowell enjoyed reading, planting flowers, traveling to play golf with her friends, and going to church.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Crowell, of the home; son, David and Janet Crowell, Oklahoma City; daughters, Theresa and Bart Kelly, Bonner Springs, Mary and Roy Karstetter, Joplin, Cathy Campbell, Oswego, and Patty and Ron Simmons, Overland Park; grandchildren, Grant Heithaus and Sadie Kelly, Jessie Kelly, Cody and Lindsey Buntin, Russell and Kelsey Stone, Kyle and Jess Simmons, Patrick and Crystal Crowell, Seth Campbell, Kate Campbell, Rick and Mandy Karstetter and Brandon and Angela Buergin ; great-grandchildren, Sophia Heithaus, Chance Crowell, Kyton Crowell, Jace Buntin, Coston Karstetter, James, Bo, and Paige Zimmerman, Brayden Wadino, Gage Buergin, Lane Tucker, and Kolby Leyda; great-great grandchild, Kash Zimmerman.
Preceding Mrs. Crowell in death were her parents; her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Olin Crowell; brothers, Carl and Raymond Moore; grandchildren, Jennifer Crowell and Emily Simmons.
