Donald Pat "Don" Sappington, 75, resident of the Blue Mountain Community and retired television technician, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Tuesday March 7, 2017 at his residence.
Services honoring the life of Don will be at 10 AM Saturday, March 11 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with his nephew, Bro. Steve Denton officiating. He will be assisted by Bro. Lyndal Davis and Bro. Wayne Cobb. Burial will follow in the Academy Cemetery near Blue Mountain.
A native of Union County, Don was born May 8, 1941, the son of the late Wylie and Blanche Cobb Sappington. He was a graduate of Keegan Technical Institute in Memphis and was associated with his brother, Wylie Glenn Sappington, in the operation of Madison TV Service in Memphis for almost 50 years before his retirement.
He returned to his native state after retirement and enjoyed being a resident of the Blue Mountain Community for the past 9 years. A Baptist, Don found pleasure in being a part of the rural way of life that included Quail hunting and outdoor activities in earlier years.
Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Friday March 10 at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Survivors include: his children, Robin Morgan, Stacey Bray (Hunter) and Amy Joyner (Drew) and David Sappington (Jennifer), his sisters, Vivian Wood of New Albany, Reba Luther of Nettleton and Iva Boothe of Ripley, his brothers, Wylie Glenn Sappington of Blue Mountain and Jerry Sappington of Olive Branch and 5 grandchildren.
