Willie Mose Lee, Jr. was born on December 25, 1936 in Nebo, Mississippi. He exchanged this life for his heavenly home on March 5, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mose and Sadie Lee, and siblings, Curtie Lee, Herbert Lee and Gertie Earls.
At an early age, Willie accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He faithfully served in the body of Christ as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. At the time of his death he was member of Stithton Baptist Church. Willie was a military man. He served his country for 26 years with distinction. He was stationed in Germany, Korea, Fort Hood Texas, Fort Bliss Texas, Fort Braggs North Carolina and Jackson, TN. A retired Command Sergeant Major, Green Beret, member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Drill Sergeant and a Vietnam veteran who served as a "tunnel rat". His service did not stop after his military retirement. He worked as a Civil Service employee at Fort Knox, KY. He is a former HAMM radio operator and a former band booster at North Hardin High School. He is also the past Optimist International Vice President and past Distinguished Governor of the KY/WV Optimist District. He holds membership in the Otter Creek Camp of the Gideons and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He leaves a loving family to celebrate his life and legacy. His wife, of 45 years, Frances Ann Thomas Lee, (Radcliff, KY) son Ibn D. Lee (Nicole) (Butler, KY), grandchildren, Emily Simmons-Lee, (Radcliff, KY) Collin and Chloe Gallagher (Butler, KY), Kyra Simmons (Radcliff, KY), godchildren, Amara Alexander (Huntsville, AL), Kwame Woodard (Detroit, MI), Nicolas Williams (Charlottesville, VA), Tyler Williams (Norfolk, VA), Tracie Parton (Columbus, OH), Micah and Seth Alexander (Huntsville, AL), two brothers Isaac Lee (Yvonne) (Detroit, MI), James Lee (Helen), (Biloxi, MS) brother-in-laws Weldon Thomas (Shirley), Lorenzo Thomas (Linda), Raymond Thomas (Thorpe, WV), Andrew Thompson(Cathy) (Rock, WV), Maurice Thomas (Sabrina), (Winston Salem, NC), Chester Thomas (Karen) (Charlotte, NC) and one sister-in-law Dietrich (Frank) Edwards (Winston Salem, NC), special friends Oscar and Louise Gordon and Bill and Monica Grady; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM Saturday at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Radcliff, KY.
Funeral services for CSM (Ret.) Lee will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Radcliff, KY with Rev. O.C. Jones and Rev. Denver Copeland officiating.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
