Hannah [Brainerd] Selby was the first wife of William Selby who died on 1 February 1748-9 [town record]. She was the daughter of Noadiah Brainerd who died in 1746 and was interred in this yard. After Hannah's death, William Selby married 2nd to Dorothy Bogue on 26 February 1749-50 at East Haddam; she died in 1764 and William married third to Mrs. Anna Sparrow on 28 February 1765 at East Haddam. He died on 6 April 1804 in his 87th year [town record and gravestone record in Mt. Parnassus cemetery, East Haddam].

Hannah's fieldstone marker is two graves north of that of Susannah [Dutton] Selby, the mother of William Selby who died in 1718.
