Rachel Allen Kilzer passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, in Seward, Nebraska, at age 95. She was born December 30, 1921, along with twin sister Ruth, to Ray and Pearl Allen of Pleasant Dale, Nebraska.
Rachel grew up on her family’s farm, with sisters Alice, Coral and Ruth, and brothers Jerry and Glenn. As a young adult she moved into Lincoln, Nebraska, with her sisters and friends to work. At the start of World War II she worked in a munitions factory near Lincoln, then went on to work in Denver and in California.
On November 10, 1944 she married Peter Thomas "Tom" Kilzer and raised five children on their farm west of Lincoln. Tom and Rachel farmed until 1997 when they retired and moved to Seward. Rachel loved to cook and bake and always had home-made treats to delight her visitors. She enjoyed playing pitch and having a good laugh.
She is survived by: sons, Lowell (Sue) Kilzer and David Kilzer; daughter, Jeryl "Jeri" (Norman) Desrochers; daughter-in-law, Donna Kilzer (Bob) Fisher; son-in-law, Dave (Chris) Obbink; and six grandsons.
She was preceded in death by: daughter, Brenda Kilzer Obbink; son, Brian Kilzer; parents; and husband, Tom.
Graveside service on Friday, March 10, 2017, at the Germantown Cemetery in Garland, Nebraska.
