God sent Matthew, Mark, and Peter to get an angel, Doris Nichols Bishop. That day in Heaven, the angels wept, with joy as Doris came home. "My heart and flesh may fade, but my spirit lives on". She was the wife of the late William Henry Bishop, Sr. for forty-five years.
Born March 2, 1929 in Clover, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Branford and Esther Watts Nichols and was also preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Nichols and two sisters, Grace Edmondson and Hilda Tunstall. Mrs. Bishop was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her son, William H. "Billy" Bishop, Jr. of Daleville; her daughter, Jane Whitehead and husband James of Lynchburg; one brother, Warren Nichols and wife June of South Hill; three sisters, Marvis Dean Kesling of Bridgeport, WV, Bernice Bagley and Louise Ogburn, both of South Hill; three grandchildren, Arthur Marshall and Adam Marshall, both of Lynchburg and Brad Bishop of Daleville and two great grandchildren, Amber Massie and husband Zachary of Bedford and Ayla Dooley of Evington.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017 at the mausoleum in Virginia Memorial Park in Forest.
