Janice Carol Bland, 71, of Idamay, died peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at her home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born November 15, 1945 in Fairmont a daughter of the late Gordon (Sonny) Rush and Helen Virginia Tapp Rush of Fairview.

She married James L. Bland in 1967 and made their home in Idamay. Janice was a beautician for over 30 years. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, sewing, and crafts with her husband.

Janice had a special place in her heart and home as a foster parent to many children over the past several years. She enjoyed spending time with family, going to the beach, cooking out, and having her children and grandchildren come and swim. She attended Idamay United Methodist Church for many years.

Janice is survived by her husband, James L. Bland along with three children, Chad and Mistee Bland of Morgantown, Anthony “Tony Joe” and Deanna Bland of Fairmont, Gretta and Bryan Reed of White Hall; grandchildren: Reuben, Meghan, and Gideon Bland of Morgantown, Andrea Bland of Shinnston, Teresa Bland of Farmington, Carissa and Mikhaela Funk of Fairmont, Hayden, Maddison, and Jakobe Reed of White Hall; three great grandchildren: Ahmya Grace Gum,. Maleah Jo, and Kooper James Delovich. She is also survived by two brothers: Jim and Vickie Rush of Bunker Hill, Richard “Dick” and the late Dolly Rush of Fairview, one sister-in-law: Linda Bland Bisset and husband Floyd of Mannington, a brother-in-law: John Bland and wife Rhonda of Fairview, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank friends and family who helped with her care and come to visit with her. A special thanks to her Aunt Betty “Peggy” Tapp for her help and care in her previous breast cancer battle as well as the most recent battle.

At her request, Janice will be cremated and there will be no services. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington. Cards and/or condolences may be sent to 6 Circle Drive, Idamay, WV 26576 or P.O. Box 91, Idamay, WV 26576.
