Interment will be held in St. Peter Roman Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Martin, born February 11, 1959, was a native of Lafayette and a resident of Carencro. She was employed with Acadian Ambulance for over thirty-six years. Debbie was a strong, independent and selfless woman who loved and lived life to the fullest. She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and took pride in her three girls and husband. She enjoyed camping with her camping crew who she loved tremendously, was a football fanatic, and loved Mardi Gras. Debbie was always ready for a good time and lots of laughter. She will be greatly missed but her memory will remain in our hearts. “I fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” 2 Timothy 4:7
Survivors include her loving husband of over thirty-seven years, Gene Ernest Martin; her three devoted daughters, Andrea Martin Riche and her husband, Nicholas, Melanie Martin LeBlanc and her husband, Cody, and Sara E. Martin all of Carencro; two grandchildren, Daxton Martin Riche and Rylee Ann Riche; her father, Dallas J. Simon of Duson; two brothers, Andrew Simon and his wife, Lena, and Raymond Simon and his wife, Karen, all of Judice; three sisters, Jane Menard of Judice, Abby Ghergich and her husband, Stephen, of Metairie and Adeline Miller of Houma; her father-in-law, George Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mable Trahan Simon; one sister, Marie Laurent; and her mother-in-law, Janice Ann Martin.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home by Madeline Braquet.
The family requests visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Nick Riche, Cody LeBlanc, Tre Leon, Paul John Laurent, Raymond Laurent and David Laurent. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Simon and Raymond Simon.
