1905 - John and Ida LaMar moved to Mason with their seven children. He was a dealer in wood, primarily walnut and hickory and he bought trees from local farmers. By 1908 he purchased a sawmill north of Church Street. LaMar had portable equipment that could be taken to the farmers' woods to cut and saw the wood as needed for the individual farmer's usu.
