"Services For Mrs M. Houchin Held Nov. 21
Last rites for Mrs Minnie S Houchin who passed away November 17, were held at the First Methodist church in Newell November 21 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev Lloyd Bair was in charge of the services.
Margery Winders and Pauline Cramer furnished music accompanied by Glenda Groth. The flower committee consisted of Mrs. J P Christiansen, Mrs. Carl Kjolhede and Mrs G F Schultz.
Attendants were J. P. Christiansen, Alvin Krogstad, Carl Kjolhede, C R Kremenak, Basil Bellows and W H Garrels.
Interment was in Newell Cemetery.
Minnie Fields Houchin, the youngest child of D C and Minerva Fields was born March 3 1887 on a farm near Gaza, Iowa. She passed away at her home in Newell on November 17, 1958."
"At the age of four years she moved to Calumet where her father bought out a store. When she was seven, her father remarried, and wher [sic - when] she was 11 they sold the store and moved to Sutherland. Just before her 14th birthday they moved to Highmore, S. D., where she finished her education. When she was 16 she came to Storm Lake to visit her sister Mary, and there met Charles Viers whom she later married. To this union, five sons were born: Orlando, Milton, Harry, Eugene, Charles, Jr. Harry passed away at the age of 22 months and the father the fall of 1918.
On October 23, 1925, she was remarried at Elk Point, S. D., to K E Houchin. They lived at Sioux City for a while and then moved to Storm Lake and later to Greene, Iowa, then back to Newell where thew [sic - they] have lived ever since.
She attended the Methodist church as a child and was six months old when she was baptised a Methodist."

Kenneth Houchin, 87, passed away Saturday in Newell at the Good Samaritan home. He had been a contract house painter in Newell.
Services will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the First Methodist church of Newell The Rev Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate Bank [?] funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at the Newell cemetery.
Four stepsons survive They are Orlando Viers and Milton Viers of South Sioux City, Nebr., Gene Viers of Greene, and Charles Viers of Campton, S D"
