American Singer and Songwriter. Carter, who released several solo albums, also sang backup on many hit records with such artists as Jackson Browne, Don Henley, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor. Her career goes back to the mid-1970s and includes work with her own group, Howdy Moon. Her most notable work was with Taylor, whom she first sang backup for on 1975’s 'Gorilla' album. She also appeared on Henley’s 'The End of the Innocence', Christopher Cross’ self-titled debut album and Eddie Money‘s 'Playing for Keeps'. Her songs have been recorded by Judy Collins, Earth, Wind & Fire and Browne, who included her 'Love Needs a Heart' on 'Running on Empty'. Among her solo albums are 'Just a Stone's Throw Away' (1977), which included the single “O-o-h Child” which was used in the 1979 movie 'Over the Edge', 'Wild Child' (1978), 'The Way It Is' (1996) and 'Find a River' (1998). Carter had suffered from heart disease over the years.
