Mary Joan Barbare (nee Marqua) aged 81 years passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2017. She was born on April 27, 1935. Joanie grew up in Independence and married Keith Weddle and had two daughters, Anne Catherine (Kathy) and Kelly Marie. She later married Don Emmerson and after Don passed, married Walter Barbare, who also predeceased her. Joanie lived variously in Kansas City, Dallas and Lake Michigan. Joanie was predeceased by parents Arlene and Frank Marqua II, brothers Jim, John and Frank Marqua, and grandson, Kyle Shockley. She is survived by her daughters Kathy Dickerson (Steve) and Kelly Trent (Steve). She is also survived by her sisters Anne-Marie Moore, Katie Phelps, Mimi Pickering and Michelle Steadman. Further, she is survived by four grandchildren, Ian and Anna Dickerson (Garrison) and David and Brian Trent, and by four great grandchildren. Joanie was an extraordinarily beautiful, kind and nurturing soul who will be missed by many.
