Dorothy Anne (Butrey) Matteson Age 70 of Bush Ave. Horseheads passed away peacefully on Thurs. May 15, 2003. Her life was filled with love and special memories of all those family and friends who were close to her. Her surviving family includes her loving husband, Bob Matteson; daughters, Barbara Matteson of Jacksonville, FL, Christine (Christopher) Matteson Schlacter of Syracuse, NY; son, James Matteson of Sparta, NJ. Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Frances Rodzai of Elmira, Mary Balash of Elmira Heights; brother, Edward (Virginia) Burtay of Horseheads; brother-in-law, William Kehoe of Horseheads; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Anna Burtey of Elmira Heights; sisters, Helen Atkinson, Margaret Augustine and Martha Kehoe; brother-in-law, Henry Atkinson, Stan Rodzai, Sam Balash and John Augustine. A member of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, Dorothy was a graduate of Thomas Edison and was employed by the American News Co., American Bridge Co., and Westinghouse Corp. After marrying and raising her three children, she returned to work at the Horseheads School System and Buddy's Garden Shop. Her friendliness, sense of humor and compassion were enjoyed by all who met and knew her. Friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 So. Main St. Horseheads on Mon. May 19, 2003 from 6-7:00 p.m. Her funeral service will follow there at 7:00 p.m. Those wishing to express their sympathy may do so with memorials to Southern Tier Hospice 11751 East Corning Rd.
