Frances Margaretta, daughter of Charles Watkin John Shakerley and Dorothy née Moreland, was baptized on 15 August 1795 at Brereton-cum-Smethwick, Cheshire, England. On 6 Jun 1816 at St George Hanover Square, London, she married Vigors Harvey. They had one son, Charles John Vigors Harvey. Widowed in 1828, she married Thomas Read Kemp at All Souls Langham Place, London, on 26 November 1832. Their only child was Frederick Shakerley Kemp (1834-1908).
She lived in Paris for some years with her second husband, who was escaping his creditors, but returned to Brighton after his death. Her home, 22 Sussex Square in Kemp Town, was built and originally owned by Thomas Kemp Read.
