Childhood friend: Carroll was a wonderful little boy and I'm sure he grew into a fine young man. My brothers and sister were his childhood friends in Upper Crabtree and were very sorry to hear of his death. It seems so long ago that we were just children playing on the farm and it is so sad that Carrol never got to see his children do the same. What a terrible war and a unbearable loss for his family! Victoria Rogers-Booth, Orlando,Fl 32810, [email protected].

He was the Husband of Mrs Brenda C Hawkins, Route #1, Clyde, NC.

He served with the Service Battery, 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery Regiment, 23rd Artillery Group, 2nd Field Force, USARV.

He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, the Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
