Lewis Thomas Shepherd, 88, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006. He was born December 19, 1917 the son of the late George H. Shepherd and Lillie May Wingo Shepherd. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Norfolk and Western Railroad. Surviving are his wife of 67 years and seven months, Lithel Maude Chambers Shepherd, of Roanoke; five children, Nan Mae Holdren and her husband, Kenneth of Del., Thomas Wayne Shepherd of Roanoke, Shirley Lucas of Roanoke, Margaret Mozingo and her husband, Ray of Vinton and Betty Setliff and her husband, Everett of Roanoke; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 greatgreat-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2006 at Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Paul Lockhart, the Rev. George Stevenson and the Rev. Ron Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 4, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
