Joan M. Donovan 82, of Wall, N.J. formerly of Bayonne, died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Sunnyside Manor in Wall.
Born and raised in Bayonne, Joan was a lifelong resident. She loved her home in Bayonne so much, she did not want to leave, but left to take care of her ailing daughter who later passed away in 2013. Joan was a parishioner of St. Vincent’s Church, Bayonne, NJ. She loved trips to the casino and card games with her grandchildren, as well as singing and dancing with her sister. In a sense, she enjoyed life.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Matthew T. Donovan in 2010, their daughter Kathy Campbell in 2013, a sister Margaret Mulkern and a brother William Spirko.
Surviving are her son Matthew Donovan and his wife Meghan of Wall and her daughter Keri O’Brien of Bayonne. Joan had 10 grandchildren; Johnny and Sarah O’Brien, Dan, Ryan, Sean, Michael and Patrick Campbell, Matthew, Luke and Jude Donovan. She also leaves 4 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting will be Tuesday, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, 10:30 AM at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Burial will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to Kathy’s Kids Foundation at www.kathyskidsfoundation.org.
